WARMINSTER, PA
A suburb of Philadelphia, Warminster, PA, is a lovely community named after a town in England. Make your reservation at a local bed and breakfast to be sure that you are well-rested during the busy days ahead of you here in this Bucks County village. A mere two miles wide, and four miles long, Warminster township contains five villages: Breadyville, Johnsville, Hartsville, the borough of Ivyland, and Warminster—which took its name from the township, and at one point was known as Warminsterboro. This village is also the home of W. Atlee Burpee & Co. As you relax on the porch of one of our special bed and breakfast establishments, think of the village of Babytown (now part of Hartsville), which at one time was home to 32 babies in only six houses, within a half-mile stretch. What a great movie script this story would make! Warminster is home to the first automobile race track. After World War I, the race track was abandoned and was divided into lots and sold. Be sure to visit Craven Hall, the first designated historic building in Warminster Township. Craven Hall has a story all its own. Don’t miss the Barnes Foundation, the covered bridges, and the Moland family farmhouse, once a headquarters of George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette. Warminster may be small, but its history is quite grand! |
